As President, Mr. Hermiz Shahen brings a wealth of experience and commitment to the ANCA’s mission of strengthening the Assyrian community’s voice in Australia. Working alongside him, each member of the board represents diverse backgrounds and skills that will enable the ANCA to expand its reach and impact across social, cultural, and political advocacy areas.

The newly elected Board is set to begin work on strategic initiatives and programs aimed at advancing both the ANCA’s goals as well as serving the interests of the Assyrian-Australian community. In line with these efforts, we have also re-launched our website with a fresh new look, providing a more engaging platform to stay updated on the ANCA’s initiatives, events, and opportunities for community involvement: www.ancau.org

As the ANCA turns a new chapter in its decades-long history, it has recently launched several new initiatives to further its mission, focusing on youth empowerment, cultural preservation, and economic development within the community.

New Headquarters in Fairfield, NSW

The ANCA is proud to announce the purchase of its own headquarters, located at Unit 7, 39-41 Harris St, Fairfield NSW 2165. This dynamic office space is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and technology designed to foster collaboration, innovation, and growth.

Members of the ANCA now have access to modern meeting rooms, advanced technology, and comfortable workspaces, enabling them to carry out a wide range of organisational activities in-house. This environment not only supports effective project execution but also encourages networking, skill development, and community building, creating opportunities for Assyrian youth to thrive and contribute meaningfully to ANCA’s mission.

Revival of The Young Assyrians (TYA)

Another highlight of the ANCA’s efforts is the revival of The Young Assyrians (TYA), which now functions as a subsidiary and the youth-arm of the ANCA. TYA is a dynamic youth-led organisation committed to advancing the cultural, political, and social interests of Indigenous Assyrians.

With a mission to empower Assyrian youth through advocacy, community engagement, and education, TYA focuses on issues impacting the Assyrian nation in their Traditional Homeland (Assyria) and across the globe. Through this initiative, ANCA seeks to foster a sense of pride, awareness, and activism among young Assyrians in Australia. You may learn more about TYA by visiting our website: www.theyoungassyrians.org

Re-brand of the Assyrian New Year Festival

In celebration of its 21-year milestone, the ANCA has re-branded its annual Assyrian New Year Festival, a key cultural event for the community that will take place on Sunday, 30 March 2025. This re-branding includes the launch of a new brandmark, a revamped website, and an overhaul of the festival’s social media presence.

These updates are designed to reflect the evolving identity of the Assyrian community in Australia while honouring its rich cultural heritage. You may learn more about the Assyrian New Year Festival by visiting our official website: www.assyriannewyear.com.au

Re-brand of Qala d-Sawra Media Program

In addition, the ANCA’s weekly media program, Qala d-Sawra “Voice of Hope”, has also been re-branded to Sawra Media. This program remains a trusted platform to addresses topics of educational, social, and political importance. The refreshed look and feel of Sawra Media aim to ensure its continued relevance and appeal in today’s media landscape.

Acquisition of the Assyrian Business Awards (ABA)

The ANCA has also acquired the Assyrian Business Awards (ABA) within its portfolio, an initiative dedicated to celebrating the outstanding accomplishments of local Assyrian-owned businesses. The ABA not only recognises the hard work, resilience, and success of these business owners but also aims to foster an environment that encourages innovation, collaboration, and continued growth.

By showcasing the positive contributions these enterprises make to the economic and social fabric of the community, the ABA reinforces the value of Assyrian entrepreneurship in Australia. You may learn more about the ABA by visiting our official website: www.assyrianbusinessawards.com.au

The ANCA extends its deepest gratitude to the outgoing board members for their dedicated service and contributions to the organisation and the Assyrian-Australian community at large.
